Beaver Dam Porn Rings Further Expands

11 People Charged

POSTED: 1:28 pm CST February 13, 2004

Authorities have arrested four more men allegedly involved in a child pornography ring out of Beaver Dam, and they said their search now extends outside the United States.

The bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement told 12 News that it's investigating one or two men who were involved in this ring, but live outside the United States.

The arrests also domestically continue. Thursday afternoon in Michigan, a man was charged for his alleged role.

James Gotfryd (pictured), 39, made a court appearance the day after detectives raided his home near Flint, Mich.

They recovered computers and computer software, which they said he used to distribute child porn on the Internet.

WISN 12 News also learned the FBI arrested three Michigan men in December and after going through their computers, they've been able to tie them to the pornography ring with roots in Beaver Dam.

The case is keeping prosecutors in Michigan busy, and in Wisconsin, the investigation is far from over.

The first arrests came last month, and so far, four Wisconsin men have been charged.

Earlier this week, the FBI arrested a police officer from Riverside, Calif., who they said visited Beaver Dam to have sex with young boys.

Investigators said sex acts were photographed, and the images would be distributed on the Internet.

Because the images could be anywhere, investigators said the next arrest could come in Wisconsin or abroad

"I think it's an unraveling, or a solving of a case. And I think there's been very good law enforcement work done by FBI and Beaver Dam police department," Dodge County district attorney Steven Bauer said.

Police departments around the country are getting involved.

The FBI said there could be more than 30 young victims across the United States, with a dozen alone in Beaver Dam.

A total of 11 people have been charged and that number could grow.

The FBI said it is looking to arrest another man in the Flint, Mich., area.
